The first thing you will do once you have created a class is add students to your roster. If you have just created your class, your roster page should be on the screen ready for you to begin. If not, you can create or edit your roster by returning to the Class page. Click the "Class" tab at the top of the screen
or click the "Manage Classes" button,
then chose the Edit icon (pencil) for the class you wish to manage.
There are two ways to add students to your roster. The first, and simplest, is to manually enter each student into the form on the Roster screen:
Once you click "Add", the student will be added to the class roster above and you can continue adding additional students.
Note that usernames must be unique, not just for your class but across the entire game system. If a username has been taken, you must assign a different username for that student. Passwords are not unique and can be duplicated even within the class.
You can also upload a roster of students. This process can save time if you have a large number of students, but requires that you create and edit a spreadsheet with your student names and passwords.
To do this, click the "Enroll Students" button on your class page.
This page has the instructions for creating a class roster spreadsheet, as well as a template that you can download and fill in before uploading to Reason Racer. Open the template file in Excel or any other program that can manage "CSV" files. Fill in the form, and make sure that when you save you keep the "CSV" format.
It is possible that your existing class management system (gradebook, attendance, etc) can export your roster in CSV format. if you do that, you have to ensure that your columns are set up in the same way as the sample template.
Once you have your roster saved in a properly formatted CSV file, you can upload the file to Reason Racer.
If you upload a roster with a duplicate username, the process will be stopped and you will need to fix the problem and re-upload. Reason Racer will let you know if there are duplicate usernames in your roster. Remember that usernames must be unique across the whole system, not just in your class.
Once you have your roster uploaded, you can edit or remove students by clicking the icons next to their names.
Clicking the Edit (pencil) icon will bring up the Student edit window. Clicking the Delete (red X) icon will delete that student.
